Even though this blog is partially about Boston, the boyfriend and I also love traveling and take a lot of weekend trips. At the beginning of March, we went up to Camden, Maine for the weekend. Camden is a small town about 3.5 hours north of Boston. We stayed at a charming B&B called The Inns at Blackberry Common. I never thought I would be a B&B person, but I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you ever make a trip to Camden, stay there! The breakfast alone is worth it.
Even though it was still chilly (this was the Northeast in winter, after all), the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day to be outside. Camden is not a beach town, but it is right on the water, and it has the cutest restaurants and shops. There is also a small mountain overlooking the town, so we climbed to the top. This took us longer than expected as we were both clearly out of shape, but when we got to the top, the view from the summit was well worth the wait. It was probably one of the most gorgeous views I’ve ever seen and the pictures don’t do it justice.
Cappy’s. We had dinner here our first night – lobster mac n’ cheese, heavy on the lobster.
Up the mountain.
Understatement of the century.
View from the top. Pictures do not do it justice.
The boy relaxing and enjoying the view (err… recovering from the hike).
Much easier on the way down.
Rewarded ourselves with Bloody Marys at this seaside spot.
Nothing but blue skies.
New England… Famous for adorable lighthouses.
So serene. Take me back!
Obviously we loved it here and would come back in a heartbeat. We have a lot of trips planned this summer, so stay tuned for more travel pics!

So here I am at the beginning. I have sat down to write this first post at least five times, but writer’s block has reared its ugly head. Because how do you describe your first post ever on something you’ve wanted to start forever but never had the courage to do for a million different reasons? Eventually you just have to bite the bullet.
I have always loved looking at blogs, especially fashion and lifestyle blogs. I majored in English, so starting one should be no problem, right? Wrong. However, I just recently made a huge life change. The boyfriend and I decided, after a weekend trip at the end of summer, to move to Boston. After a few whirlwind months of applying, packing, moving out, moving in, and starting new jobs, we are finally feeling settled and embracing our new life. And what better inspiration to start something new? I have a new city to explore, new friends to meet, and new experiences to have. Obviously I need a place to document them. And that’s what Skipping Up To Boston is… a new beginning. So here we go! Let’s do this.
